Additional Information and Trainings

 

Noelle has conducted numerous trainings on the brain, mind, and body connection. This includes individual workshops on gender differences in the brain and the effects on academic achievement, learning, socializing, motivation, and behavior; Active Engagement Strategies; leadership training for students and sports organizations; social skills development; bullying, drug and violence education and prevention; and supervision and evaluation. She uses these skills in her current role as a Pre-K-12th grade counselor for the Mapleton School District in Denver, Colorado.

Formerly, Ms. Roni conducted workshops on the national level for the Gurian Institute; designed, facilitated, and supported content learning experiences for Teach For America’s first-year teachers; and was a University Supervisor of student teachers for Fort Lewis College. She uses her knowledge of brain research, gender differences, physical activity, and social skills education to help educators inform instruction, incorporate active engagement strategies, enhance communication, and inspire their students.

 

Noelle has over twenty-seven years of experience in education. In addition to her current roles, she has successfully taught, counseled, and led students and K-12 staff. Her experience includes: working in the diverse Seattle School district for thirteen years as a principal, teacher, interventionist, counselor, trainer and after-school activity coordinator at the elementary and middle school levels; evaluating charter schools (Kindergarten-College) for the Colorado Department of Education; conducting trainings and workshops for the University of Colorado’s Teacher Education Program; leading at a Colorado K-12 Charter School for over eight years as the elementary principal and a K-12 administrator; and teaching in the Adams 12 School District as a Math Teacher and Reading Interventionist.

Noelle earned her Administrative Credential (2002), Teacher Certification (1992) and BA; Psychology (1990) from the University of Washington and her M.ED; Guidance and Counseling (1994) from City University, Seattle. She is an avid learner and continuously takes classes, workshops, and webinars on leadership, teaching, specialized populations (Special Ed, TAG, ELL), and brain research. Noelle lives near Denver, Colorado with her husband and two, lively boys and spends an enormous amount of time in Seattle with her large, extended family and friends.
